Design your sign

A carved hardwood sign, about 30 inches wide, with up to four lines of lettering. Add an ornament on one side or both if you like. Work through the steps and we'll draw it to size as you go. Anything you should know shows up right in the step it's about.

Step 1 Where will this sign live?

We ask first because it decides which woods will hold up there. Better to know now than after you've fallen for a design.

Inside a home, office or store. Anything we make will last there.

On a covered porch or under the eaves. Out of direct rain and sun, but not heated.

Direct sun and rain. It's the toughest spot for anything made of wood, so some woods aren't offered here.

A PNG or JPEG in two colours, like black on white, up to 8 MB and at least 300 pixels each way. Our laser engraves in one colour: the darker one gets engraved and the lighter one is left bare. We'll check it with you before we make anything.

Step 10 How will you hang it?

We'll finish the back flat and leave the hanging hardware to you.
