Privacy
We are two people in a workshop in Centreville, Maryland. We keep what we need to answer you, make what you ordered and get it to you, and nothing else. We do not sell anything about you, and we do not use advertising cookies or trackers on this site.
When you write to us
The contact and quote forms keep your name, your email address, your message, and a phone number and subject if you give them. If you came from a design you made in our design tool, we keep a reference to it. If you reached the site from one of our ads or links, we also keep which one (see cookies). We use all of this to reply to you and to quote for your piece.
We keep enquiries, because they are the record of what we agreed with you. Messages our spam checks set aside are deleted automatically after 30 days.
When you design something
The design tool saves your designs, including the wording you type onto them, so you can come back to them. You do not need an account: a design belongs to a random number stored in a cookie in your browser, and nothing else links it to you until you choose to send it to us.
When you start a project
A project keeps the name you give it, your notes, the date you need it by, and which of your designs are in it. Like your designs, it belongs to this browser rather than to a name or an email address, unless you sign in as below. We cannot see a project until you send it to us or order it. It is kept until you delete it; deleting a project leaves its designs alone.
When you ask for a link to your projects
To use your projects on another phone or computer, you can ask us to email you a link. We keep your email address and a list of the browsers you have opened a link on, each with a plain description such as “Chrome on Windows” so you can tell them apart, so that your projects and designs from all of them appear on each. Nothing is copied between them. There is no password.
A link works once, for 30 minutes, and we delete unused ones within an hour. We only use your address to send you these links. Anyone who can read that inbox can open your projects, so use an address that is yours rather than one you share. When you sign out, that browser starts fresh, and what you saved on it stays with your account.
Under Your projects › Manage you can see and remove those browsers, sign out on all of them at once, and delete your email address, projects and saved designs yourself.
When you order
An order keeps your name, email address, phone number if you give one, your delivery address (or that you are collecting), the date you need it by, and what you ordered and paid. We keep orders as business and tax records. Your cart is deleted automatically after seven days.
We do not take card payments on the site yet. When we do, card details will go directly to Square, our payment processor. We will never see or store your card number.
Cookies
These are every cookie the site sets. All are first-party, set by this site rather than anybody else, and none of them is for advertising.
The color theme you pick with the cog at the top is remembered in your own browser's storage. It is never sent to us.
Who else sees it
Only the services that run the site for us, and only for that purpose:
- Microsoft Azure hosts the site and stores its data in the United States. Azure also sends our emails, and our own mail is handled by Microsoft 365.
- Microsoft Application Insights keeps technical logs: which pages were requested, how long they took, and any errors. It uses your IP address to estimate a rough location and then discards it.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the contact form and the form that emails you a link are being sent by a person rather than a program. Cloudflare sees information about your browser and connection to do that, under its own privacy policy.
- Square will take card payments once online payment is switched on.
Our ads
When we advertise on Google, Facebook or Instagram and you click one of our ads, the link may carry the ad platform's own click reference, which we record with your enquiry so we can tell which ads work. If you answer one of our ads using a form inside Facebook or Instagram, Meta collects your answers and passes them to us, and we keep them like any other enquiry. What Google and Meta themselves record is covered by their own privacy policies.
Your choices
Write to team@scottandemilydesigns.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it (a completed order's tax record, for example). You can clear our cookies at any time in your browser; the only cost is that the design tool will no longer find designs you saved on that browser, unless you had signed in there, in which case asking for a new link brings them back.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If what we keep changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top says when.
